We are One!
It’s Thursday 8th October and the weather is glorious. In fact the whole day is set to be as we are getting ready to celebrate our first birthday! The icing on the cake is that everyone is filled with excitement and relief now that, after his much-unexpected vacation our Pig has returned just in time to help us celebrate, although we are certain this was his plan all along!
During the day the atmosphere in the pub is electric. The Team are busily clearing a space for the dance floor, filling the goody bags full of mini Prosecco, Valrhona Chocolate and Christmas treats ready for the celebrations. Looking around, all of the drinks stations are ready to start the wine and Prosecco flowing. Sarah and the Team are all dressed impeccably and waiting for their guests to arrive for the wonderful event, even our Pig has his party balloons on!
As the clock strikes half past seven, the doors swing open with Sarah, Ben, Kingsley and Bec’s excitedly welcome their guests for the evening. Guests flow through the doors, as does the wine and Prosecco! Those who fancy something a little different head to the bar for their preferred drink, and dine on the exquisite Canapé’s that Chefs Matt and Ian have created for everyone.
The centrepiece for the evening is the beautiful cake surrounded by a huge collection of cupcakes, all of which are iced in The High Field’s colours. As the Team continue to rally around topping up everyone’s drinks and the conversation flows, the band – Wes Finch – begin to play and soon the dancefloor is filled with expert moves, singing and general cheer.
With the evening drawing to a close, we couldn’t believe how lucky we were with the weather. Even this late into the evening, it was unusually mild for this time of year. It’s lovely to see the guests still able to enjoy the garden. With the daylight dwindling so are the cupcakes – unsurprisingly as the guests continually comment on how delicious they are! With a blink of an eye the evening is over and everyone makes their way home with their goody bags in one hand and a few girls have a pair of stilettos in the other!
It was so lovely to see so many familiar faces from the last year, and we can’t wait to welcome our guests back in the years to come.
